In 2024, I embarked on a creative endeavor to produce a new artwork each week, culminating in a series of mixed-media “tiles” on 14.5” x 14.5” watercolor paper. These tiles were cut from a single 60” x 180” 130 lb. Canson watercolor paper roll. The series began with a continuous graphite line drawn across all the squares, serving as an anchor and an invitation into the creative process. The resulting works are characterized by their intuitive nature, layered composition, and occasional contradictions. (It is worth noting that three weeks — May 25, July 13, and August 31 — deviated from the weekly production schedule. Also upon mid-year assessment, I discovered that there were only 36 weeks in the series, indicating a mathematical error during the paper roll’s cutting process.) The collection of “squares” creates one comprehensive artwork measuring 8.5’ x 6’.
