Closing Time

“Closing time, you don't have to go home
But you can't stay here” ~song by Semisonic

Organized Chaos is still on view at San Luis Obispo Museum of Art for another two days; it’s coming down on Tuesday. I’m forever grateful to the museum staff for providing me with this exceptional opportunity. It is now time for Organized Chaos to find a new home. Again, to quote the lyrics of the song by Semisonic, “I know who I want to take me home.” This may involve another gallery, a museum or a permanent residence.

Organized Chaos was crafted one piece, each week over 36 weeks. It’s about discovery. It’s about exploration. It’s about rest. It’s about frustrations. It’s about wonder; the wonder of brain coral. It’s about playfulness. Despite its appearance as 36 independent artworks, it is one cohesive unit, a singular “snapshot” of a year’s worth of life.

And using the analogy of a dinner menu, there’s an Addendum series plus Never A Dull Day, a quadriptych. Think of this work as dessert and aperitif.
